Steve went to Hill Junior College from 1970-71 on a baseball scholarship and there he was selected President of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was chosen All Tournament in the Texas Regional Tournament.
By 1985, Steve Baxter was assembling partnerships and purchasing large apartment complexes with postponed repairs in need of a turnaround. As a junior on the basketball team, Andrew Baxter was aware that he was not going to play much at all so he resolved that he wanted to be the best teammate on the bench. He did this by encouraging the entire bench to overwhelmingly support the players and be cheerleaders for them. He helped all the bench to "go crazy" for the guys playing. It made a huge difference in the team and likely contributed to the fact that the team made it to the playoffs for the first time in many years.
